Life update: Back to flying?

Hello friends! After a long time away I’m finally making a blog appearance! As it did for many people, the pandemic shifted a lot of things for me. When I was hired back after being laid off for many months, we had started doing AirBnBs and were running a vacation rental business here in the Caribbean (because after we got stuck during covid, we fell in love with island life and never left! It’s a whole story.). When that business took off, there was a juggle of figuring out how I would commute as a flight attendant and how to make both worlds work. I got my call back to flying in October of last year and the timing could not have been anymore perfect!

I remember my first flight when the pandemic was ending…there just weren’t words to capture how good it felt to be traveling again! And I know I wasn’t the only one! It’s been just over a year now and I’m happy that we figured it all out.

While I don’t mind the commute at all, if leaves are offered I take as many as possible. Our “side hustle” of AirBnb quickly became a full-time job, and I love being on the island. It’s truly hard to grasp how much life can change within a couple years; but I wouldn’t change a thing. I fly here and there and then live and work on the island, it’s the best of both worlds (cue Hannah Montana song).

Now we are on the cusp on a promising, new year, full of unwritten chapters and tickets just waiting to be booked! I’m happy to be back on the blog, especially after a long hiatus where I had a love/hate relationship with social media and honestly, just didn’t want to blog or spend more than a few minutes creating content. I realize now, how much I missed blogging and creating. I have done it since I was a teenager (when social media and blogs actually weren’t that cool lol) and I realize that’s just a part of who I am.

While a social media break is refreshing, at the end of the day…for me, it’s a creative outlet. I think we can be so quick to hate on it, but if you use it to share, add value to other’s lives, only follow accounts who make you happy, set healthy boundaries (I love the built in app timers!), be creative and make a genuine community, it’s SUCH a wholesome space.

Life is what you make it, and that includes the internet and social media spaces (in my opinion). Would love to hear your thoughts in the comments or msg me on IG!

Wishing you a Merry Christmas season and happy to be back! <3
